We live in incredible times, times that can trouble the soul to its very core. As I look at current headlines we still weep for 11 year old Ashlynne Mike who was tortured and murdered after being abducted from her bus stop while playing with her brother. We know that her killer will never face justice because of godless legislation passed by Bill Richardson and other heartless politicians to repeal the death penalty.
But we were relieved to find out that 4 year old, Angelo Jaramillo was found safe having been abducted by his mother who it seems was high as a kite and not allowed to take her son from school because she lost custody of him due to her drug use.
It appears that London will have its first Muslim mayor before long as the United Kingdom has allowed itself to be transformed into a Muslim nation, did you know almost half of the population is now serving the false god of Islam?
The bathroom wars are boiling over as the Justice Department is demanding that the governor of North Carolina detail how he will not enforce the law that requires people to use the restroom of the gender listed on their birth certificate. While the attorney general of Texas is asking Target how its new transgender bathroom policy will protect women and young children from the expected dangers posed by men just wanting to enter the powder room to do bad things.
Scientists in California are warning that the San Andres fault is locked and loaded for “the big one” anytime now while the Yellowstone and Mt. Saint Helen’s volcanoes are showing signs of blowing big time soon.
But wait, there’s more. New York mayor Bill DeBlasio want New Yorkers to boycott Chick-fil-a for holding Christian ideals and making such outrageous statements such as marriage is between a man and a woman, this is after all the chicken of Jesus.
President Obama is wanting to make a New York gay bar involved in starting the LGBT abcd movement into a national monument but then he reminded us on the National Day of Prayer that America was founded on religious freedom, I am probably the only one that sees the irony of the two.
But I don’t give you all those headlines to upset you, I give them to you because we live in trying times. Not that it was any better in the past but that now we know about these things faster and in more detail than our parents and grandparents did.
The news can overwhelm us very easily but as I prepare for a funeral I must preach and I read John chapter 14, I am struck by something profound.
Jesus states in the opening verses that He will go to prepare a place for us and He reminds us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
The earth is groaning because of sin and so earthquakes and volcanoes getting to let loose should not trouble our hearts, Jesus told us it would happen. The perishing of this world have denied God and ignored His truths and so they are turned over to corrupt thinking, this accounts for the sick people hurting children and the state not willing to give the justice such evil deserves.
We should also not be surprised by the godless progressives aligning themselves with those that worship false gods nor the notion that Muslims are successfully conduction a “soft” invasion of the west.
Once again, I remind you that Jesus, His Apostles and the prophets of old warned that this would happen before the Day of the Lord, so fear not the Lord is near!
