President Obama, The Spirit of Fear and Christian Genocide

President Barack Hussein Obama gave his last speech as president at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday and his topic was fear.

The president reminded his listeners that all humans experience fear even presidents and quoting scripture reminded us, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

But a phrase Mr. Obama used caught my attention when he said, “Faith is the great cure for fear. Jesus is a good cure for fear.” He was making an overall point that fear causes us to be unaccepting of what is different and following his visit to a Baltimore area mosque the day before, was intended to call on Christians be more accepting of Muslims and probably other groups as well.

The president, as seems to always be the case, is once again chastising believers in Jesus Christ for having any doubts regarding the motives of Muslims and he calls on us to have no fear.

Fear is what occurs when there is no comforting authority, that is why the Lord tells us to fear not because He is with us and that is why scripture says the Lord has given us power, love and a sound mind. Followers of Islam seek to take away God’s authority and replace it with Satan’s authority.

Jesus is not a “good” cure for fear, He is the only cure for fear. The president seeks to have us compromise our faith in Jesus by accepting Islam and “others who are different” when scripture clearly teaches us to reject false gods and false lifestyles.

It is the Lord who removes fear by His Spirit through trusting Him, this does not mean we treat others outside the faith cruelly but with love, however the trust is earned over time.

Against this backdrop the White House spokesman, Josh Earnest was asked why the great number of Christians killed in Iraq, Iran and Syria were not termed genocide when their murders fit the definition exactly, Mr. Earnest could not give a reasonable answer.

We should understand that calling the acts of ISIS genocide would change the game entirely as the world governments have signed treaties to deal with such acts when they are declared.

President Obama should take his own advice and turn to Jesus for help in dealing with fear; I know that the Lord is an amazing cure for fear and for ISIS.
