Christophobia and The Unwillingness to Accept Christian Refugees

Modern English speaking Americans have a tendency to misuse the language in creating new words to describe the problems we face. I have mentioned before the absurdity of words such as homophobia and Islamophobia as the suffix phobia means fear and what people are attempting to accuse other people of is hate or prejudice.

As the saying goes, “when you can’t beat them, join them” and a Christian author is touting a word based on the previous examples, Christophobia. Christophobia is being used by Johnnie Moore, a Christian author and humanitarian who is pointing out that leaders such as President Obama and Hillary Clinton are giving preferential treatment to Islamic Syrian refugees and showing hatred toward Christian Syrian refugees.

The numbers back the accusations too, over the course of the last 12 months as the Obama administration has allowed some 10,000 Syrian refugees to enter the country only 56 have been Christian, a number not consistent with percentages of their population and the numbers applying.

There is a true bias against Christians from this administration and it not being hidden or disguised as Hillary Clinton declares that she will encourage 500% more Muslim Syrian refugees even as Christian are being slaughtered in numbers not seen since the Roman Empire.

I still disapprove of poorly crafted words such as Christophobia but it may be the only way to communicate what is happening world wide to a linguistically challenged population. In the same way, many Christians might have failed to realize how Mr. Obama misappropriated scripture on Thursday when he stated on an Islamic holiday that we should be welcoming the stranger.

He was, of course, alluding to Deuteronomy and the Lord’s injunction regarding the stranger but he failed to understand that scripture commands that the stranger in our midst should not follow a different law than everyone else and the Syrian Muslims he is bringing into the country believe in Sharia law above all other laws including the Constitution of the country they are immigrating.

The Lord tells us in His word to love all men and treat them as we want to be treated but that should include Christians as much as Muslims, yet that is not what we are witnessing.

The United States has at many times in her imperfect history extended her protective wings to help the stranger but we have always been careful to bring into our country people that at least held to similar standard and wanted to become American.

When Israel was a nation in the early years still under the influence of the bible and leaders like Joshua, it was careful too about the stranger that joined her. The bible describes strangers that were God fearers who wanted to join Israel in worshiping the One true God and that is what is needed now, to allow migrants who want to be a part of building America on the principles that made her a shining city on a hill and not a Christophobic nation.
