Not Even Jesus is Above the Law

The rule of law is important to a free and just society and yet so many countries ignore the rule of law with their leaders believing that they are above the law because they are in charge.

The bible commands that the king, even King Jesus, is not above the law but required to write out the Torah, the first five books of the bible, and have it available at all times, times of war, times of judgment and even during times of leisure.

The king is to write out the law himself and to read it daily, studying every part of the law to know it and to obey it. The king was not to be above his countrymen when it came to the law and no one was above the law except God and yet even Jesus, the ultimate King of Israel is subject to this same law.

The same was to be true of presidents in the United States. The president is to be elected by his countrymen and from his countrymen and he is not above the law. The same is to be true of congressmen and senators, all laws apply to everyone and the same constitution restrains the president and all government officials.

That is why it is especially concerning that the president of the United States, Barak Obama and those that serve under him believe that the laws that govern all of us do not apply to them and their policies.

Case in point is the dealings the United States has had with the terrorist nation of Iran in recent years. It turns out that the $20 billion the Obama administration paid in cash earlier this year in violation of the law was not the only money paid out.

It seems that President Obama authorized and his subordinates carried out the payment of an additional $11.6 billion to the rouge nation in cash so that it would be readily available for use even if that use were terrorism against Israel.

Numbers like these can be mind numbing as we can’t really wrap our brains around billions of dollars but what we should be aware of is that the president and his men, if these reports are proved true, violated United States law and international law by not only paying Iran this money but by using cash in various world currencies.

The Obama administration believed they were being clever by paying it this way but they were only fooling themselves, just as King Solomon once did.

Solomon believed that when he wrote out his copy of the Torah, that he was wise enough to grasp the meaning behind the commandments for the king not to add wives, gold or horses to himself. He thought that doing so would lead him astray and he was right, that was the purpose of the commandments but he thought that because he was wise enough to get it, that he could then do those things.

So, he changed the small jots and tittles that made the commands negative into positives and now he could add wives and gold and horses but we know that this is what led to the fall of Israel and Jesus saying not one jot or tittle shall be changed from the word of God.

In the same way, presidents and other government leaders should not change or ignore the law because they believe themselves to be wiser than that old constitution because they are not.
