The City of the Great King

Psalms 48:1-2 states:

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
in the city of our God!
His holy mountain,  beautiful in elevation,
is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
the city of the great King.

The bible declares that Jerusalem will be a stumbling block for the whole earth. That the world will fight over who owns this ancient city.

But its ownership has never been in question for the Lord and for those that will hear His voice and read His word, it is the city of the Great King, King Jesus.

The history of this city is clouded by time but the bible maps out that it was on the site of the future temple mount that Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac and that the Lord provided the substitution.

It was on the very same mountain that the Lord told King David and King Solomon to build the first temple and where the second would be rebuilt and Jesus Himself would teach the word of God.

Jerusalem was the capitol city where the kings of Israel ruled and there has never been a replacement designated by the Lord. Jesus wept over Jerusalem as He pronounced the great woes that would befall her in Matthew, He mourned for her because her people had killed the prophets and would not turn to the Lord for protection.

It was in Jerusalem, just outside the city gates where Jesus shed His very own blood for her and all people that will hear His call and put their trust in Him.

The bible is very clear indeed that Jerusalem will be the city of the great King and that He will set up His throne in Jerusalem and rule the entire earth from that city.

Yet, the world would presume to tell Israel that Jerusalem cannot be the capitol of Israel and that the covenant that God established with this once and future nation is null and void.

Presidents, Prime Ministers and kings actually believe that they can deny Israel her capitol as if the Lord never established it and His covenant promises of the land with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The city of the great King and His eternal rule are foundational teachings that many leaders in the church either ignore or deny which is wrong because we should be teaching the truth of scripture instead of buying the lies of Satan that divide believers and place them in opposition to God.

Jesus created this world and then shed His own blood to purchase this earth and all that is in it. He chooses where He will set up His throne and what land belongs to whom.

He is the great King and Jerusalem is His city.
