Sign of the Last Days: More College Students Using Pot and Other Drugs

An interesting article in the New York Times reported on the increase of college age students using marijuana and how the use is taking over cigarettes as the smoke of choice among today’s young adult.

The article draws from a University of Michigan study that found more than a third of respondents had used pot in the last year with 21% having used the drug in the last month.

The article ended with the optimistic note that only half of the students who used pot had used cocaine. Wait, that means that half of the students did use cocaine and other drugs.

Wow.

So, what does this have to do with the last days? It turns out that one of the chief signs of last day’s behavior, or really godless behavior is the use of drugs or what the bible call sorcery.

When you read of sorcery in scripture, say Revelation 9:21 where it says, “nor did they repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.” The word in Greek is “pharmakia” or drug use.

Consider that verse again, is that not a list of what I tackle in the news each day? Abortion and the death penalty, drug use, sexual immorality in all it’s forms, and thefts or the redistribution of wealth and social justice.

The fact is that our college students are learning early on that drug use is fine and truth be told they are learning that every thing on the Revelation 9:21 list is good too.

And we wonder why things are heading from bad to worse.
